God's Miraculous Work of Man's Simple Salvation

Some people struggle to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ because it sounds too simple. The idea that salvation comes by grace through faith without needing to earn it is difficult to accept, especially when so many other religions require people to do so much before they can even hope to be saved.

But what many don’t realize is this: surrounding that simple act of faith is a chain of divine miracles, before and after. What God did to make salvation possible, and what He continues to do in the life of every believer, is nothing short of supernatural.

While other religions offer a list of rules and rituals in the pursuit of salvation, none of those efforts are ever enough. The Bible makes it clear: salvation is entirely the work of God. Our part is simply to believe.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:29

What man could never do, God did. These were things impossible for man but not for God.

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”Luke 1:37

These thoughts have been on my heart lately, so I asked my husband, “What are the miracles that take place behind the scenes when someone receives Jesus?”

Here is his response:

Before salvation was offered, God prepared the world through thousands of years of prophecy and history.

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”  Galatians 4:4–5

Jesus left His heavenly glory and became poor for our sake.

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”  2 Corinthians 8:9

He endured sinners, shame, and the agony of the cross.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…”

Hebrews 12:2

“Consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”  Hebrews 12:3

He bore the sins of all mankind.

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…”.  1 Peter 2:24

He died, was buried, and rose again.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”  1 Corinthians 15:3–4

Then, when He saves a sinner, this is what He does:

Raises them from spiritual death

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.”  Ephesians 2:1

Transfers His righteousness

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  2 Corinthians 5:21

Seals them with the Holy Spirit

“In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” Ephesians 1:13

Records the transaction in heaven

“Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”  Luke 10:20

Sets the sinner free

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”  John 8:36

Delivers from Satan’s power

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”  Colossians 1:13

Will You Come to Him?

You could never save yourself. That’s the bad news.

But the good news is, you don’t have to.

Jesus has already done it all.

Now, He invites you to trust Him.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Romans 10:9

Today, you can stop striving and start believing.

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”  2 Corinthians 6:2
