What I Wish I Believed Sooner

I believed this later in life than I would have liked, but I am so grateful I finally did because it is the truth that changed everything. The answer to every problem in life is not complicated. The path is not easy, but the steps are clear.


“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”

Psalm 37:23


It is not a ten-step plan or a secret formula. It is this:


The Word of God.

Trust.

Obedience.

And prayer.


That is it.


This is not just the solution. It is the only solution that leads to real peace, real purpose, and real power. It brings a life that is not just surviving but thriving. A life that is prosperous in the ways that matter most. A life full of joy, clarity, and strength no matter what storms come.


But even more than all that, when you read the Word, when you study it, meditate on it, and obey it, when you pray and trust and walk with God, you get to know Him.


Not just know about Him, but truly know your Heavenly Father, your Creator, your Savior, Jesus Christ. And when your life is built on that relationship, what could possibly go wrong?


I believe it with all my heart, and I would not trade this truth for anything.


It is summed up so well in this song:


When we walk with the Lord

in the light of his word,

what a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will,

he abides with us still,

and with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there is no other way

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

1. My Struggles

2. The Answer

Not even a desperate scroll through the internet could save me this time. The answer came when I hit rock bottom. No more quick fixes. No “ten steps to peace.” A realization that I had nothing left. And that is when it happened. That is where the transformation began, not in the noise, but in the nothing. Jesus said it so clearly, but I never understood it until I lived it: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 5:3 Poor in spirit. Not rich in answers, not strong in willpower, not full of ourselves, but empty, desperate, needing.   It was in that place of spiritual poverty that He became my everything.
